Cross Hill Lodge & Domes is evolving from a guest-only retreat into a distinctive destination where locals and travellers alike can gather, dine, and connect. While accommodation remains an exclusive and immersive experience, we are proud to now offer our evening dining to the wider public — welcoming guests from The Camp, the local community, and visitors to Lake Hāwea.

Trust the Chef

From Tuesday to Saturday evenings, join us for Trust the Chef dining — a three-course shared-table experience curated by Chef Ryan. Each evening celebrates the region’s best seasonal produce, high-country flavours, and heartfelt hospitality — where every plate tells a story of place and season.

Our shared table seats just 16 guests, creating a warm, communal atmosphere where food and conversation flow naturally. For those seeking a more intimate setting, private dining options are also available — perfect for special occasions or quiet connection.

More Than a Meal

On Mondays and Tuesdays, guests can enjoy grazing boards and antipasto platters — ideal for a relaxed evening with a local wine or craft beer in hand.

Whether you’re staying at Cross Hill, visiting from The Camp, or simply passing through, dining here is an invitation to slow down, savour the moment, and share in something truly special.

Trust the Chef Dining – $125 per person
A three-course chef-curated experience by Ryan, featuring seasonal and locally inspired dishes. Your evening begins with a welcome drink on arrival, followed by a shared table dining experience that celebrates connection, flavour, and the high-country spirit.

Additional wines, beers, and beverages are available from our curated drinks list throughout the evening.

Dining is available Tuesday to Saturday, from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm.

Our shared table seats just 16 guests, with private dining options available on request.

Meet our Chef: Ryan

Chef Ryan, our celebrity is the heart of our Cross Hill Lodge & Domes Food Experiences. Originally from Auckland and trained in classic French and modern British technique, Ryan brings nearly two decades of experience to the kitchen. Influenced by his mother and inspired by the Central Otago landscape, his menus fuse local, seasonal ingredients with bold, expressive flavours — often with a subtle nod to Asian fusion.

Every meal is handcrafted with intention, inviting guests to connect not only with the food, but with the people and places that make it possible. Ryan’s philosophy is simple: celebrate honest ingredients, support local producers, and cook with heart.

Farm to Table Philosophy

Rooted in the land, our kitchen follows a true farm-to-table approach. Richard and Sarahs Glen Dene Station allows us to serve premium, ethically raised meats, while our relationships with local growers and artisans bring fresh produce, cheese, oils, and more to the table. This commitment to local sourcing enhances flavour and deepens our connection to our place.
